After 7 great years and many achievements of which we are all proud, Dumb Eyes’ founders have decided it is time to move on and pursue separate paths.

We are all excited about our upcoming projects and wish each other the best for the future. Christian Petersen, will now be working under the name of I WANT YOU while the rest of the former Dumb Eyes team including partners Corey Gutch and Michael Ellsworth have started a new agency called Civilization.

We’d like to thank all of the people who have helped, contributed and supported us over the years! We couldn’t have done it without you!

It is always nice when the local paper, The Stranger, takes note of the magical things that come flowing out of the Dumb Eyes creativity lab. The event is curated by Francesca Gavin, Visual Arts Editor of London based arts magazine Dazed and Confused. Francesca featured I Want You in Dazed & Confused in the past. We are proud to announce today’s latest news story about our Creative Director, Christian Peterson and one of his latest endeavors, the E-Vapor-8 show at Brooklyn’s 319 Scholes gallery. Phaidon UK hit up Christian for a nice interview and write up. Read it here. Curated by Francesca Gavin, Christian’s fellow exhibitors run the gamut from Cory Arcangel to Fatima Al Qadiri. The E-Vapor-8 exhibition explores the influence and relationship between contemporary art and rave and electronic music culture. That’s how we do.

Phaidon Press is a British publisher of books on the visual arts, including art, architecture, photography, and design worldwide.

Henry Open House 2012

With the help of the ever illuminating Nick Bartoletti and Ben Van Citters Dumb Eyes dreamed up and executed sonic/visual revelations outside in the party zone at the Spring Henry Art Gallery Open House. The party was rocking as museum patrons caught their first glimpses of Video Art Pioneer Gary Hill’s new show: glossodelic attractors. Hill’s work at the show includes over a dozen works that investigate how visual and verbal communication are experienced at the phenomenological level, and how that experience creates meaning. We can get with that, how about you?

Also present was Brink Award: 2012 recipient Andrew Dadson from Vancouver, BC, he received a cash prize and some of his work was acquired for the Henry Art Gallery’s permanent collection.

For the Win is a free party put on by the Awesome Foundation, a non-profit that awards $1000 grants every month to people with deserving ideas. Some of you may remember the Onn/Of festival of light that we were involved in a few months ago. On/Off received one of the first grants awarded by the Seattle chapter. This promises to be a great party filled with dancing, drinks and a photo booth for those embarrassing shots at the end of the night. Come out on April 12th to Sole Repair at 8 pm and show your support for local philanthropy.

Day Night magazine release party at Object

New Seattle-based art and design magazine ‘Day Night’ released its first issue at Object at 2nd Ave. downtown. To celebrate the magazine’s first edition flying out of the print shop and into the hands of tastemakers, the publisher threw a big hoedown complete with hundreds of cans of Seattle’s newest craft beer Hilliard’s. The polished boheme talked design and drank chilly brews.

Dumb Eyes was there with a custom video piece we created to be displayed specifically for the big event. Our piece is also in the online edition of the magazine. Check it out and let us know what you think.

THEE Satisfaction at Neumos

Dumb Eyes will be providing visual projections for THEESatisfaction’s show at Neumos Thursday 3/29/12. We’re big fans of THEESatisfaction and excited to be involved in their release party for their new album and first release from Sub Pop records: awE naturalE. The staff at the Stranger recently wrote-up 9 unique reviews of awE naturalE calling it “casually profound.”

Ghost Tote

A beloved local gallery on Capitol Hill was damaged by a flood. Ghost Gallery has been host to many Dumb Eyes events and to help we created the Ghost Tote! The bags were printed by Cairo and limited to 35. You can also get a tote designed by Illustrator Izzie Klingles. All proceeds are going to help pay for their costly repairs.
