Michael Ellsworth Managing Director / Founder / Principal

While attending Columbia College and the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Michael began experimenting with guerilla marketing techniques to promote musicians in the city. This early experience informed much of his marketing and business background, which includes positions as advertising executive for The Stranger Newspaper, board member and curator for Seattle Public Health’s Art Patch Gallery, and executive director of Sweatshop Inc. Gallery. Michael specializes in marketing development, business development, project management and print/manufacturing production.

Christian Petersen Creative Director / Founder / Principal

Christian holds a BA in Graphic Design from Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design. Before moving to Seattle in 2005, he worked in London as an award-winning freelance designer and photographer for clients such as Levis, Comme des Garçons, Silas, Liberty of London, Answer, Elkie Park, and Automatic. His work has been featured in fashion and art publications including Vice, Dazed & Confused, Time Out, Creative Review, Erotic Review, Area, and Selfridges ‘Book of Wonders’. Christian is the art director and curator of I Want You magazine, and specializes in creating striking visual compositions regardless of the canvas – whether it’s print, web, photography, illustration, or animation.

Corey Gutch Interactive Director / Principal

Corey joined Dumb Eyes in 2007 after 11 years with Adobe Systems, where he worked with a broad range of web development technologies, SDKs, and Fortune 500 clients such as Daimler-Chrysler, Disney, and Boeing. His unconventional background also includes positions as fashion and style columnist, independent record label founder, party promoter, and touring musician. Corey is an Adobe Certified Expert, the Lead Instructor for the Web Design with Adobe Creative Suite certificate program at the University of Washington, serves on the UWPCE Advisory Board and continues to consult with Adobe Systems as Community Manager for Muse. He specializes in UX, Accessibility, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, LAMP application development and open-source frameworks.

Jeanine Anderson Business Development

Residing at the intersection of creativity and technology, an inventive yet structured sensibility guides Jeanine’s approach to life. Her background working for small software start ups to mega-media conglomerate Thomson Reuters, her experience in user experience planning, B2B customer relationship management, project management, product marketing, and other responsibilities have always been balanced with an innovative and creative style. Jeanine has an AAS degree in Information Systems and knows enough code to be dangerous — thus also knows it’s best to leave coding to the real professionals. She’s a writer and photographer with work published in magazines such as Travel and Leisure and GQ, she organizes the monthly Capitol Hill Art Walk in Seattle, and co-founded the Art Walk Consortium, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and supporting neighborhood and community art walks.

Izzie Klingels Illustrator

Izzie studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art. Shortly after graduating she founded Lazy Eye, creating and designing live shows, videos and directing promos for bands including Death In Vegas and Beth Orton. She began working as an illustrator in 2001 and developed her distinctive pen and ink style. Izzie’s clients include Absolut Vodka, Calvin Klein, Topshop, Volvo, Vogue and more. Her work is exhibited internationally, she has lead workshops at the V&A and London College of Communication and given talks about her work at Chelsea College of Art, Middlesex University and Northwest College of Art.

Brad Zeffren Interactive Production / Music and Sound Design

Hailing from Chicago, Brad Zeffren brings a unique perspective to the Dumb Eyes creative team that draws on an 18 year career in the recording industry, where he works as both a professional producer/engineer and a performing musician. He holds a BFA in Music Technology from the Berklee College of Music, and has production, composition, performance and sound design credits in the music, film, radio, television, theater, and gaming industries. Prior to joining the Dumb Eyes team, Brad worked for 6 years as a freelance web designer and developer, and draws on this broad range of skills and experience to help Dumb Eyes create original and compelling interactive projects and produce innovative live events. He specializes in information architecture and front end development using HTML/CSS, jQuery, WordPress, PHP, and Filemaker Pro. For audio work he uses Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Max/MSP, Audiomulch, and anything else that makes good noise.

Dave Battjes Marketing

Dave was creative at a young age drawing pictures that wowed his classmates. His background in graffiti made him fall in love with typography and ultimately decide to pursue an education in design. Since then, Dave has designed and marketed for numerous bands, participated in gallery shows and marketed Seattle based businesses before receiving an AAA in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Seattle.

Nick Bartoletti Experimental Video Artist

Originally from Seattle, Nick attended the Art Institute of Seattle graduating with a BFA in Media Arts and Animation where he was awarded with the best portfolio of show for his graduating class. He currently works in the game industry as a lead 3D artist. Over the past several years he has expanded his expertise into photography, music, and video. As an experimental video artist he enjoys creating images through the use of an arsenal of analog video equipment mixing live recording techniques, video feedback, original/found footage, as well as building and modifying video equipment to generate unpredictable video effects for live performances and gallery installations.

Benjamin Van CittersExperimental Interactive Video Artist

Alongside a fervant interest in music and traditional two-dimensional media Benjamin Van Citters first became interested in computer generated art and complexity when he got his first taste of algebra in middle school. At UW his passion for mathematics and programming landed him a grant from the math department and saw him volunteering time with professors in the Computer Science department. Pursuing an interest in complexity, interactivity and fine-art, Ben works in the thriving video game industry of the Puget Sound region and enjoys his time exploring new UI technologies such as touch responsive surfaces, the Xbox Kinect and the Playstation Move.
